MANILA, Philippines — Weather authorities late Thursday night raised a Yellow Warning Level over several areas in Central Luzon as rains brought by the southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, continue to affect parts of Luzon.
In its 11:00 p.m. advisory issued on June 4, weather officials warned that Bataan, portions of Zambales, and several municipalities in Pampanga are experiencing significant rainfall that could lead to flooding in low-lying and flood-prone communities.
Areas under the Yellow Warning Level include Olongapo City and the municipalities of Subic, San Antonio, Castillejos, San Marcelino, and San Narciso in Zambales, as well as Porac, Floridablanca, Masantol, Macabebe, Sasmuan, Lubao, Guagua, Santa Rita, Bacolor, and Minalin in Pampanga.
Authorities said residents in affected areas should remain alert for possible flooding, particularly in locations with a history of poor drainage and rising water levels during prolonged rainfall.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains, with occasional heavy downpours, are expected to affect additional areas in Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Cavite, and Batangas within the next three hours.
Weather forecasters also reported continuing rainfall across other parts of Pampanga, including Apalit, San Fernando, Magalang, Mexico, San Luis, San Simon, Santa Ana, Santo Tomas, Angeles City, Mabalacat City, and Arayat. Similar conditions are expected in portions of Tarlac, including Bamban, Capas, Tarlac City, La Paz, and Concepcion.
Officials said the rain may persist over the next several hours and could spread to nearby areas.
Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices have been advised to closely monitor weather developments and prepare for possible flooding and related hazards. Residents are likewise encouraged to stay updated through official weather bulletins and heed advisories from local authorities.
The next weather update is expected to be issued at 2:00 a.m. Friday.
