CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — More areas in Pampanga remained under a Yellow Rainfall Warning on Wednesday afternoon as the combined effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclone Maymay continued to bring widespread rainfall across Central Luzon.
In its 5:00 p.m. Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 4, PAGASA warned that flooding is possible in flood-prone areas as persistent rains continue to affect much of the province.
Under the Yellow Warning Level are the municipalities of Floridablanca, Lubao, Sasmuan, Macabebe, Masantol, Porac, Santa Rita, Bacolor, Guagua, Minalin, Santo Tomas, Apalit, San Simon, San Luis, and Mexico, along with the City of San Fernando.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains with occasional heavy downpours continue to affect Arayat, Candaba, Magalang, Santa Ana, Angeles City, and Mabalacat City. PAGASA said these weather conditions may persist over the next three hours and could spread to nearby areas.
The weather bureau attributed the continuing rainfall to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon, strengthened by Tropical Cyclone Maymay, which is affecting large portions of Luzon.
Aside from Pampanga, Yellow Rainfall Warnings remain in effect for Metro Manila, Cavite, Bataan, parts of Zambales, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Batangas, while nearby provinces including Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Quezon continue to experience periods of moderate to heavy rainfall.
PAGASA advised residents, particularly those living near rivers, creeks, and other flood-prone locations, to stay alert for possible flooding as rainfall continues into the evening.
Local disaster risk reduction and management offices have also been urged to closely monitor weather conditions and implement necessary measures to safeguard communities.
Residents are encouraged to follow updates from PAGASA and their respective local government units, as rainfall intensity and affected areas may change throughout the day.
The next Heavy Rainfall Warning is scheduled for 8:00 p.m., unless weather conditions warrant an earlier advisory.
