Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue affecting parts of Central Luzon and nearby provinces early Saturday as the Southwest Monsoon, locally known as Habagat, remains active, according to the state weather bureau.
In its latest rainfall advisory issued at 2:00 a.m. on June 6, weather authorities said several areas in Central Luzon and CALABARZON may experience periods of rain that could persist through the early morning hours.
Among the areas expected to be affected are portions of Pampanga, including Mabalacat City, Angeles City, Porac, and Magalang. Rain showers were also reported over parts of Zambales and several municipalities in Tarlac, including San Clemente, Mayantoc, San Jose, Capas, Bamban, and Concepcion.
Weather forecasters said nearby communities could also experience similar conditions as rain-bearing clouds associated with the monsoon system move across western sections of Luzon.
Outside Central Luzon, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in Bataan and parts of Batangas, including Nasugbu, Lian, Calatagan, Tuy, Balayan, and Calaca.
Several localities in Cavite were likewise placed under the advisory, including Maragondon, Ternate, Naic, Tanza, Rosario, Kawit, Cavite City, Noveleta, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Magallanes, Trece Martires, General Trias, Imus, and Bacoor.
Further north, portions of Bulacan and Nueva Ecija may also experience rainy conditions. Areas identified by weather authorities include Hagonoy, Paombong, Malolos, Calumpit, Bulakan, Pulilan, Baliuag, San Rafael, San Ildefonso, and Plaridel in Bulacan, as well as Cabiao, San Antonio, Zaragoza, Licab, Guimba, Nampicuan, and Cuyapo in Nueva Ecija.
The Southwest Monsoon remains one of the country’s primary weather systems during the rainy season, often drawing moisture from surrounding seas and bringing prolonged periods of rain, particularly to western sections of Luzon.
While the rainfall forecast is generally categorized as light to moderate, weather officials reminded residents that localized flooding remains possible in low-lying and flood-prone communities, especially if rain persists for extended periods or coincides with poor drainage conditions.
Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices were advised to continue monitoring weather developments and coordinate with concerned agencies should conditions worsen.
Motorists traveling through affected areas were also urged to exercise caution due to potentially slippery roads and reduced visibility during periods of rainfall. Commuters may experience travel delays, particularly in urban centers where road congestion tends to worsen during wet weather.
For Pampanga residents, the advisory comes as parts of Central Luzon continue to experience intermittent monsoon rains that have become more frequent in recent weeks. Agricultural communities are also closely monitoring rainfall patterns, as steady precipitation can provide much-needed water for crops but may also affect farming activities if excessive rainfall develops.
Authorities encouraged the public to stay updated through official weather bulletins and local government advisories as conditions may change rapidly.
The next weather update was scheduled for release at 5:00 a.m., with forecasters continuing to monitor the movement and intensity of rain clouds associated with the Southwest Monsoon.
