National Officials Join Ongoing Rescue Efforts at Angeles City Collapse Site

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Search and rescue operations continued Sunday at the site of a collapsed building under construction along Teodoro Street in Barangay Balibago, with local and national authorities coordinating efforts under the city’s Unified Command System.

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Jon’ Lazatin II is overseeing the response as the Responsible Officer of the Incident Command System, leading coordination among government agencies and emergency responders involved in the operation.

The Bureau of Fire Protection remains at the forefront of search, rescue and retrieval efforts, working alongside other emergency response units deployed to the scene.

National government officials also arrived in Angeles City to assess the situation and coordinate with local authorities. Among those who visited the site were Vince Dizon and Nicolas Torre III, who received updates on the ongoing operations and the response efforts being undertaken by various agencies.

Authorities have not yet announced when rescue operations will conclude, as responders continue to assess the area and search for any individuals who may still be affected by the collapse.

Officials continue to urge the public to avoid the vicinity of the incident to allow emergency personnel to carry out their work safely and efficiently.

More Than 20 Feared Trapped After 9-Story Angeles City Building Collapses

Search and rescue operations are underway after a nine-story building collapsed on Sunday, leaving more than 20 people—mostly construction workers—believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, who inspected the site following a direct order from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., confirmed that emergency teams have detected signs of life beneath the debris.

“Our priority is to get the trapped victims out,” Dizon told reporters at the scene.

Due to the unstable condition of the structure, first responders are carefully clearing the wreckage by hand to avoid shifting the debris and endangering those trapped inside.

Local authorities and medical teams have established a command post nearby as the community awaits further updates on the rescue efforts.

First Fatality Confirmed as Rescuers Clear Debris in Pampanga Building Collapse

A Malaysian national has died after becoming trapped inside an apartelle adjacent to Sunday’s catastrophic nine-story building collapse, local emergency officials confirmed.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) stated that rescue teams have successfully recovered the victim’s remains from the neighboring structure, which was severely impacted by the nearby cave-in.

Meanwhile, the race against time continues next door as first responders manually clear tons of concrete and twisted metal. Search and rescue operations remain underway for more than 20 other individuals who are still feared trapped deep beneath the rubble.
