PAMPANGA, Philippines — A new children’s hospital in Pampanga has been inaugurated as part of efforts to expand access to specialized pediatric healthcare for children in Central Luzon and nearby regions.
The Department of Health–Jose B. Lingad Children’s Medical Center (DOH-JBL CMC), described as the first phase of the Clark Multi-Specialty Medical Center, was inaugurated on [date] with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leading the ceremony.
The 111-bed facility is expected to serve pediatric patients from Regions I, II, and III, as well as neighboring areas, giving families greater access to specialized medical services closer to home.
The hospital is scheduled to begin providing pediatric care on August 1, 2026.
A key component of the facility’s services will be the implementation of Zero Balance Billing (ZBB), a government healthcare policy intended to ensure that eligible patients will not be required to pay out-of-pocket for covered hospital services and medical treatment.
The initiative is expected to help address financial barriers that can prevent families from seeking or completing necessary medical care for their children.
During the inauguration, officials highlighted the broader goal of bringing specialized healthcare services closer to Filipino families, particularly those who previously had to travel to Metro Manila or other major medical centers to access specialized pediatric treatment.
The development of the DOH-JBL CMC forms part of the government’s broader push to establish regional specialty hospitals and improve healthcare access outside the country’s major urban centers.
For families in Pampanga and surrounding provinces, the facility could provide a more accessible option for children requiring specialized medical attention.
The hospital’s 111-bed capacity is also expected to help strengthen the region’s healthcare infrastructure as demand for pediatric services continues to grow.
