MANILA, Philippines — Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque claimed that someone may have betrayed Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa after reports circulated online alleging that the senator had been arrested in connection with an alleged warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a Facebook post, Roque wrote, “May nang-Hudas kay Bato?”, suggesting that someone may have disclosed the senator’s whereabouts following the circulation of the reports.
However, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the Philippine National Police (PNP) has no information confirming that dela Rosa has been arrested.
“As far as the PNP, we have no information to that effect,” Remulla said in a message to members of the media.
The PNP has not released any official statement confirming an arrest, and no government agency has publicly verified the reports as of posting time.
Sen. dela Rosa, a former chief of the Philippine National Police, has been publicly linked to the ICC’s investigation into the Duterte administration’s anti-illegal drug campaign. The ICC continues to investigate alleged crimes against humanity connected to anti-drug operations conducted while the Philippines was still a party to the Rome Statute.
As of posting time, authorities have not announced any official enforcement action involving the senator, and the reports circulating online remain unconfirmed by Philippine law enforcement.
