PASIG CITY — Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto revealed that the local government was able to procure each “Pasig Go Bag” for less than ₱1,000 — significantly lower than market estimates circulating online.

“Kung bilhin natin sa labas, malamang nasa ₱2,000+ para ireplicate ang laman ng ‘Pasig Go Bag.’ May nag-send pa nga sa akin ng estimate sa Facebook post na nasa ₱1,200 to ₱1,800 daw ang halaga dahil bulk order,” Sotto said in a Facebook post.

He clarified, however, that the city government acquired the emergency kits at a price of ₱992 per bag, following a transparent bidding process.

“When the project was awarded to the winning bidder, I was honestly nervous that they might try to deliver low-quality items. But as we’ve seen, from the scissors to the flashlight, everything is of good quality,” Sotto said.

According to the mayor, the city’s efficient procurement allowed the distribution of one Go Bag per household, with additional units allocated for schools, public utility vehicles, and transport groups such as TODA.

Sotto acknowledged the challenges of implementing reform measures but reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and good governance.

“Madugo man ang laban para sa mga reporma, tiwala lang at patatagin pa natin ang mga nasimulan na,” he said, adding that “the future is bright for Pasig City.”

Mayor Sotto is set to deliver his 2025 State of the City Address on October 13 at 3 p.m., which will be broadcast live on Facebook.
