Just days after we published an article highlighting the humane practices of Angeles City’s No-Kill Dog Pound, social media users across the Philippines are urging local government units (LGUs) to follow the same compassionate approach to animal care.

The feature — which showcased Angeles City’s structured system of Catch → Spay/Neuter → Vaccinate → Adoption — quickly gained traction online, attracting thousands of shares and comments from animal lovers, advocates, and concerned citizens. Many praised the city for proving that humane management of stray animals is possible when supported by proper systems and genuine commitment.

Netizens pointed out that while heartbreaking footage from other pounds continues to circulate nationwide, Angeles City stands out as a model that prioritizes both public safety and animal welfare. Several commenters called for the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and local officials to replicate the system, stressing that “every pound in the country should operate this way.”

Some users also expressed hope that the national government would issue stronger guidelines promoting no-kill and humane-based programs, citing Angeles City as clear evidence that local pounds can be both effective and compassionate.

Angeles City’s recent regional recognition as the only Model Dog Pound/Shelter in Central Luzon further fueled the momentum, reinforcing the idea that humane practices can align with successful rabies control and community safety goals.

As online support continues to grow, advocates say this public pressure could be a key step toward encouraging more LGUs to reconsider their current pound operations and invest in long-term, humane, and science-based animal management programs.
