Angeles City, Philippines — The Angeles City government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin Jr., has announced the scheduled suspension of face-to-face classes in all public schools and daycare centers, to be carried out by clusters across the city.
The move, done in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd)–Angeles City, aims to give way to a citywide disinfection and inspection initiative. The effort will be implemented by the City Health Office’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) and the City Sanitation Team, with assistance from the City Engineering Office.
According to local officials, the proactive measure addresses the seasonal rise in influenza-like illness (ILI) cases in Angeles City, while also allowing engineers to assess the structural integrity of school buildings.
The class suspensions will be conducted in ten clusters, ensuring an organized rollout that limits disruption to the academic calendar. Disinfection and inspection activities will take place during the designated suspension days.
City officials emphasized that the health and safety of students remain a top priority as preventive measures continue across all educational institutions.
