SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga — A total of 2,377 Nanay Community Workers (NCWs) in Pampanga received financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), half a sack of rice from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and free medicines from the provincial government.
The assistance was distributed during an NCW Assembly led by Pampanga Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda.
Among those who received support was Anabel Ramos of San Simon, who has served as a volunteer Nanay Community Worker for more than six years.
Ramos said her work includes helping identify patients who may need assistance from the provincial government and participating in community clean-up activities.
She expressed gratitude for the support and the opportunity to continue serving residents in her community.
The NCW program recognizes the role of community volunteers who assist in various activities and help connect residents with government services and support programs.
During the gathering, representatives from the DSWD and the provincial government also expressed their support for the participating NCWs.
Those who joined the activity included DSWD Regional Director Venus Rebuldela, Executive Assistant IV Angelina Blanco, 3rd District Board Member Lucky Labung, 4th District Board Members Dr. Kaye Naguit and Atty. Vince Calara, PDRRMO Officer Janica Yambao, and PSWDO Officer Fe Manarang.
Aside from the distribution of assistance, the assembly also featured discussions aimed at improving the NCWs’ knowledge of issues affecting communities.
Topics included the Super El Niño phenomenon, as well as anti-bullying and child protection laws.
The discussions were intended to help the community volunteers better understand emerging risks and their responsibilities in helping protect vulnerable residents, particularly children.
For volunteers like Ramos, the support serves as recognition of the work carried out at the grassroots level, where community workers often help identify residents who need assistance and participate in local initiatives.
The provincial government continues to work with community-based volunteers as part of its efforts to extend government programs and services to residents across Pampanga.
