ZAMBALES, Philippines — A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Masinloc, Zambales early Thursday morning, October 16, 2025, according to data from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The quake was recorded at 2:09 a.m. with a depth of 24 kilometers, and its epicenter was located about 8 kilometers northwest of Masinloc, in the province of Zambales.
Based on PHIVOLCS’ instrumental intensity reports, the tremor was felt at Intensity IV in Iba, Zambales, while Intensity III shaking was recorded in Masinloc and Cabangan.
Intensity II was observed in Botolan and San Marcelino, Zambales, and Intensity I in Dinalupihan, Orani, and Abucay, Bataan; Guagua, Pampanga; Tarlac City, Bamban, and Santa Ignacia, Tarlac; and Subic, Zambales.
Authorities have not reported any damage or casualties as of posting time. PHIVOLCS advised the public to remain alert for possible aftershocks, although no tsunami warning was issued.
