The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) has denied any involvement in the allegations made by former Ako Bicol party-list representative Elizaldy Co against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The clarification came as the religious organization opened its three-day “Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy” at the Quirino Grandstand on Sunday, November 16.
According to a report by The Philippine Star, INC spokesperson Edwil Zabala said the group has not communicated with Co and had no participation in the release of his statements.
“We have not been in touch with him,” Zabala said in a message, adding that the INC had “nothing to do” with Co’s accusations.
Co has released two parts of his so-called “revelations,” alleging that President Marcos received ₱25 billion in kickbacks from budget insertions in the proposed 2025 national budget.
Malacañang has dismissed the allegations as baseless and urged Co to return to the country to address the cases filed against him.
