A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Sarangani on Sunday evening, October 12, 2025, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The tremor occurred at 7:54 p.m., with its epicenter located about 38 kilometers south-southwest of Maitum, Sarangani. The quake had a depth of 25 kilometers.
Based on PHIVOLCS’ report, the earthquake was felt at Intensity III in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat and T’Boli, South Cotabato. Weaker shaking was observed at Intensity II in Kiamba and Alabel, Sarangani, while Intensity I was reported in Maitum, Sarangani.
Instrumental intensities recorded similar levels, with Intensity III in T’Boli, Intensity II in Kiamba and Palimbang, and Intensity I in Maitum and Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
PHIVOLCS said no damage or aftershocks are expected from the quake, which originated from tectonic movement in the area.
