STO. TOMAS, Pampanga — The Kurit-Lagting Art Collective, in partnership with the DTI–Design Center of the Philippines, will hold “Lakad-Lente: Stories of Ginhawa Through Photography and Design” on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Infant Jesus Golden Achievers Learning Center Inc., 45 L. Gomez Subdivision, San Matias, Sto. Tomas, Pampanga.
Supported by the Concerned Artists of the Philippines – Bicol Chapter (CAP-Bicol), Rhymes of PEG, and Echam Studios, the event is a partner activity of Design Week Philippines 2025. It aims to bring together youth, students, artists, and local creatives for an afternoon of collaboration and artistic exploration.
The program includes a creative talk, a hands-on photography and design workshop, and a guided photowalk highlighting ginhawa—a Filipino concept of well-being—as both an everyday experience and a shared aspiration. Participants are encouraged to find ginhawa in moments of joy, rest, play, and resilience within their own communities.
Design Week Philippines, an initiative of the Design Center of the Philippines, is a nationwide celebration held every October. It transforms cities and local spaces into creative hubs through exhibits, lectures, and workshops that showcase how design can improve lives and promote sustainable growth.
This year’s theme focuses on design’s role in advancing collective well-being. “Lakad-Lente” contributes to this movement by demonstrating how art and design can strengthen community ties beyond traditional creative centers.
The photowalk will invite participants to capture visual stories of ginhawa, concluding with a reflection session where attendees share their images and insights on what their communities revealed through the lens.
“This initiative is both reflection and action. Through Lakad-Lente, we hope to inspire participants to see art as a way of capturing ginhawa and sharing it as a story of our collective life,” said Resmundo Demdam, Project Lead of the event.
“Art is always for the people. In this workshop, we want to show how photography and design can be powerful tools for truth-telling and community building,” added Geri Matthew ‘Choi’ Carretero, co-founder of the Kurit-Lagting Art Collective.
“Creativity is rhythm—it comes from our lives, our joys, and even our struggles. Lakad-Lente is an opportunity for participants to express that rhythm through images,” shared Allan Abrigo of CAP-Bicol. “While many of our members are from Bicol, our outreach now extends even to Pampanga.”
“Sto. Tomas is rich in culture and everyday stories. I’m excited to help participants explore how design and photography can highlight the character of our community,” said Jessa Erandio, joined by Ruth Jocutan, both from Rhymes of PEG.
“Lakad-Lente is a journey of seeing the familiar with new eyes. It reminds us that ginhawa can be found in small, meaningful moments captured through our lenses,” noted Raymond Demdam of Echam Studios.
The event is free of charge, but slots are limited and subject to review. Only confirmed participants will be notified.
