Manila — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. urged Filipinos on Thursday to embody compassion, generosity and hope this Christmas, calling on the nation to become a “source of light and goodness” as it marks the birth of Jesus Christ.
In his annual Christmas message, Marcos joined Filipinos across the country and around the world in celebrating what he described as a joyful and deeply meaningful season — a time to honor faith, express gratitude for the year’s blessings, and cherish moments with family and loved ones.
The president highlighted the uniquely warm and festive spirit of Christmas in the Philippines, saying the season offers countless opportunities to reflect on life’s gifts and strengthen bonds within communities.
“This is the time when we gather to honor the birth of Christ our Savior, thank the Lord for the graces we have received throughout the year, and enjoy the company of our families and friends,” Marcos said.
Even as Filipinos take part in holiday celebrations, Marcos reminded the public not to lose sight of those facing hardship. He called for special concern for the poor, the sick, victims of calamities, and marginalized sectors, urging citizens to extend help and compassion where it is most needed.
Drawing from Christ’s example, the president encouraged Filipinos to share their blessings and spread kindness, particularly toward children, whom he described as being at the heart of Christmas celebrations.
“Like Jesus who brought salvation to the world, let us share our abundance with the people around us,” Marcos said. “Let us bring kindness, happiness and good cheer to everyone we meet, especially our children.”
Marcos also expressed hope that the deepest wishes of Filipinos would be fulfilled, and that love, unity and goodwill would continue to guide families and communities beyond the holiday season.
“Let us become a source of light and goodness to our fellow Filipinos this Christmas and in the years to come,” he said.
