Candaba, Pampanga — The San Andres Apostol Parish in Candaba brought together its community today in a powerful display of unity against corruption. The day’s activities began early with a Solidarity Mass, followed by a community-led Prayer Rally, drawing parishioners from across the town.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Francis Dizon, Vicar General, reminded the parishioners that democracy is meant to be “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” He lamented, however, that it has instead become “OFF the people, BUY the people, and POOR the people,” underscoring the consequences of corruption on ordinary citizens.
The gatherings emphasized a shared commitment to uphold transparency and promote accountability at all levels of governance. Parish leaders and attendees alike called on citizens to embrace responsible citizenship as a vital step toward good governance.
Through prayer and collective action, the community sent a strong message: fighting corruption requires the active participation of everyone to build a more transparent and accountable society.
