TARLAC, Philippines — Two students from Pampanga were killed after their ultralight aircraft crashed into a rice field in Barangay Panalicsian, Concepcion, Tarlac on Saturday morning, October 18.
According to initial reports, residents saw the two-seater aircraft circling in the air before it suddenly went down, crashing into farmland around 11 a.m. The aircraft reportedly took off from Magalang, Pampanga before the incident occurred.
Authorities identified the victims as a 19-year-old male pilot from Mabalacat City and an 18-year-old female passenger from Macabebe, Pampanga. Both were declared dead on arrival at the hospital after suffering severe injuries.
The Concepcion Municipal Police Office confirmed that the accident was reported around 12:35 p.m., with Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) personnel immediately responding to the scene.
Concepcion Mayor Noel Villanueva said the two victims were classmates and were on board a privately owned ultralight aircraft when the tragic crash occurred.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash while coordinating with aviation authorities to determine whether technical issues or weather conditions played a role in the incident.
