DAVAO ORIENTAL, Philippines (October 13, 2025) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. traveled to Davao Oriental on Monday to personally assess the damage and monitor ongoing relief operations following a series of strong earthquakes that struck parts of the province over the weekend.
The President began his visit in the Municipality of Manay, where he inspected the Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital–Manay in Barangay Central and met with medical personnel assisting those affected by the tremors. He also visited Manay National High School in Barangay San Ignacio to check on teachers and students displaced by the quake.
Marcos then proceeded to Tarragona, where he visited an evacuation center and led a situation briefing with national and local officials, including Governor Nelson Dayanghirang, to discuss urgent recovery measures. Topics included the repair of damaged infrastructure, housing aid, and ensuring the steady delivery of relief supplies to affected families.
The President assured residents that the national government stands ready to provide full support for recovery and rehabilitation, highlighting the need for strong coordination between national agencies and local government units.
“Our priority is to ensure that all affected communities receive timely assistance and that rebuilding efforts begin without delay,” Marcos said during the briefing.
The visit underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster response and resilience in quake-hit areas across Mindanao.
