TBA Studios has officially dropped the full trailer for its upcoming historical biopic Quezon, which is set to premiere exclusively in Philippine cinemas on October 15.
The film stars Jericho Rosales as former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon and serves as the highly anticipated finale to TBA Studios’ acclaimed “Bayaniverse” trilogy—a cinematic universe inspired by key figures and events in Philippine history. The trilogy includes the box-office hit Heneral Luna (2015) and the award-winning Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (2018).
Directed by Jerrold Tarog, Quezon follows the life of the statesman during the American colonial period, highlighting the political challenges he faced on the road to leading the Philippines toward independence.
According to the official synopsis, the story explores Quezon’s struggle for sovereignty amid political rivalries with figures such as Leonard Wood, Sergio Osmeña, and Joven Hernando. As he vies for leadership, Quezon’s tactics and ambitions reshape the country’s political landscape, culminating in the historic 1935 presidential election.
The cast also features Benjamin Alves as young Quezon and Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo, reprising their roles from the previous Bayaniverse films. Iain Glen, known for his role in Game of Thrones, portrays Leonard Wood, while Arron Villaflor returns as Joven Hernando. Cris Villanueva plays the elder version of Hernando.
Rounding out the ensemble are Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, Karylle as Aurora Quezon, JC Santos as Manuel Roxas, and Jake Macapagal as Manuel Nieto, along with Bodjie Pascua, Angeli Bayani, Jojit Lorenzo, Joross Gamboa, Therese Malvar, Ana Abad Santos, Ketchup Eusebio, and Nico Locco.
Produced by TBA Studios in collaboration with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and CreatePHFilms, Quezon is designed to be both the closing chapter of the Bayaniverse and a stand-alone film accessible to all audiences.
TBA Studios President and COO Daphne O. Chiu-Soon said the project reflects the studio’s continued commitment to elevate Filipino storytelling on the big screen.
“We are proud to bring Quezon to audiences in the Philippines and around the world. It’s a powerful story that celebrates our nation’s history and resilience,” Chiu-Soon said, adding that special ticket discounts for students and teachers will be announced soon.
After its local release on October 15, Quezon will also premiere internationally at a later date.
